Achillea ‘Cassis’ produces plentiful stems bearing flattened flowerheads of intense cerise-red above feathery green leaves. It flowers from its first year of sowing, and has a long flowering period all through summer. Very popular with pollinators and an excellent cut flower.

Sow indoors

February-July: Sow 0.5cm (1⁄4in) deep in seed trays in a greenhouse or cold frame. Keep soil moist at all times.

Sow outdoors

September-October: Sow 0.5cm (1⁄4in) deep in a seed bed Keep soil moist until established.

Plant out

June: Plant out into the permanent position 30cm (12in) apart.

Tips

Cut back faded flowerstems to encourage a second flush of flowers in late summer. Lift and divide every 2-3 years.
