For elegance and drama, Actaea ‘Brunette’ is a real winner.

It produces tall flower spikes bearing clusters of small white, perfumed flowers. Mix with other perennials in a shady border. Its berries provide good value too.

Actaea ‘Brunette’ is a fantastic plant for pollinating insects and birds love its berries in winter.

Also known as baneberry, and cimicifuga, Actaea ‘Brunette’ can be left standing at the end of the year to add interest to a winter border, although it’s best to keep children away from its berries. This plant provides a source of nectar for insects and, later on, food for birds. Actaea can grow up to a metre and a half (59ins). It prefers to be grown in soil that does not dry out, but not boggy conditions.

How you will receive your plants:

Selected by our team of experts and sent from our nursery, this will be supplied in a 9cm pot (measured by the diameter of the pot). With a well strong root system in place, you can plant out in the garden straight away and leave them to establish, or you can grow them in larger pots as they are still young, before planting out to create a stunning garden display.

Can’t plant straight away?

If you aren't able to plant out straight away, then ensure they stay moist. You can place pots on a saucer or tray of shallow water so they are able to stay hydrated. Aim to have them planted within 3 days.
