Azalea ‘Gilbert Mullie’ is a spectacular sight in late spring, forming a low, spreading mound of evergreen foliage smothered in gorgeous rose-pink flowers. A very hardy variety that grows well in part shade.

Plant in moist, well-drained acidic soil in part shade. Azaleas (rhododendrons) can also be grown in sun provided the soil does not dry out in summer.

Water regularly during the first year and in hot dry periods, especially during summer when the following year’s flower buds are developing. Use rainwater rather than tap water if possible.

Feed in spring with an ericaceous fertilizer.
