Azalea 'Hino Crimson' is a very popular evergreen azalea with small, dark green leaves and masses of brilliant scarlet flowers in mid-spring. The leaves have a reddish tinge in winter, giving this attractive shrub extra appeal. Ideal for small spaces, and holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Plant in moist, well-drained acidic soil in part shade. Azaleas (rhododendrons) can also be grown in sun provided the soil does not dry out in summer.

Water regularly during the first year and in hot dry periods, especially during summer when the following year’s flower buds are developing. Use rainwater rather than tap water if possible.

Feed in spring with an ericaceous fertilizer.
