How you will receive your bulbs:

Selected by our team of experts and sent from our nursery, you will receive spring-flowering bulbs in the autumn in a breathable mesh bag. This is to keep the bulbs together in a pack that is nice and airy – perfect to keep the bulbs healthy while in transit.

Can’t plant straight away?

Keep your bulbs in a cool, light, and dry place and preferably hanging on a hook so that air can get to the bulbs at all angles. Ideally, you should aim to plant your bulbs within a week of receiving them, but if this is not possible, store them in a cool, dark place until you are ready to plant them.

Planting tips and hints:

Planting in containers: You can plant spring bulbs in containers any time from September to November. For a 3-layer planting, choose a container at least 35cm deep with good drainage holes. Place a layer of stones or gravel at the bottom of the container to aid drainage, then add a 5cm deep layer of bulb compost. Place the bottom layer of bulbs on top of the compost, spacing them about 2.5cm apart and ensuring the tips are facing upwards. Cover them with a 5cm layer of compost, firm it down gently, then place the middle layer of bulbs on this, again spaced 2.5cm apart. Repeat the process for the top layer of bulbs and cover with a final 5cm layer of compost. Water thoroughly after planting and a few times in the following weeks to stop the compost drying out while the bulbs are developing roots. In cold areas, wrap containers in fleece or bubble wrap to protect against frost.

Feeding and aftercare: When feeding in spring, use a liquid feed high in potash so it gets to the growing bulbs quickly, feeding the roots. Deadhead as soon as the flowers fade to keep the display looking good.
