- Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit
- Satisfying superfood
- 30 potential heads, plus sideshoots to boot
Calabrese Marathon F1 takes the lead for performance, quality and harvest. Marathon gives you medium-sized, uniform, dense heads of turquoise 'beads' on robust plants that thrive in both heavy and light soils and loam, given full sun. Marathon performs so well, is vigorous in growth and is slow to run to seed- great news for vegetable growers in cold regions of the country where bolting can be a problem.
Ready in about 13 weeks after germination sow in early spring for a summer crop or in early summer for calabrese ready in autumn. We recommend you cut the central head after around 13 weeks so you encourage lots of side spears to appear afterwards.
Marathon is a healthy ‘superfood' jam-packed with vitamins, iron and vital micro-nutrients. Suitable for freezing for supplies through the winter and following spring. Give yourself a satisfying store of this superfood to last you through the year.
We recommend you use netting or bird scarers when planting out, as you would other brassicas.
