Description
- Long roots with rich orange-red colour
- Excellent flavour
- Reliable and high-yielding
- Resists splitting and stands well
Carrot ‘Autumn King 2’ is a superb maincrop carrot producing roots up to 30cm long with a rich orange-red colour and great flavour. This reliable, high-yielding variety resists splitting and lasts well in the ground. A top choice for show-growers.
Sow outdoors
Sow seeds thinly 1cm (1/2in) deep in pre-watered rows, and cover with a little soil. Allow 15cm (6in) between rows. Carrots do best on light, stone-free soils.
Thin
As seedings develop, thin initially to 2cm (1in) apart. Later, thin again to about 5cm (2in) apart. Thinnings are delicious cooked as finger carrots or raw in salads. Thinning is best kept to a minimum as crushed leaves attract carrot root fly. Keep soil moist after thinning.
Advice
Mix seeds with silver sand to make sowing easier and with less need for thinning. Plant alongside spring onions, leeks, mint, marigolds. Their scent can repel carrot fly.
Please note - These seeds should ideally be sown this season. All our packets have ‘Sow by Date’ guidance on them, this is the date the seeds should be sown in order to achieve the highest rate of germination. You will still see the same high-quality plants if sowing in seasons after the ‘Sow by Date’ but may see a reduction in germination rate

How to Guide
Sowing Outdoors
Sow seed thinly in pre-watered shallow rows, and cover with a little soil. Allow about 30cm (12in) between rows. As seedlings develop, thin them initially to about 2cm (1in) apart.
Later thin again to about 10cm (4in) apart. Thinnings are delicious cooked as finger carrots or raw in salads. Keep soil moist until seedlings are established.
