A beautiful clematis flowering from May to September, to grow in your garden where it gets part sun, part shade. It has a compact habit too, making it ideal if you’re tight on space.
Plant with climbers with dark foliage or dark flowers for a striking contrast. Its full flowers, reaching a diameter of 15cm (6in), are white with a deep pink central bar. The flowers look great in situ, but you can also remove them for cut flowers in the home where they can keep up to an impressive ten days.
Plant outside in part sun/ part shade in rich soil. Keep well watered, especially in dry periods and it will produce flowers throughout the summer. Feed with a potassium-rich fertiliser to encourage continual blooming.
In early spring prune hard to 15cm (6in) above ground level, and add a general purpose fertiliser to give it a spring boost. This keeps it neat, encourages its compact habit and by May- June you’ll have flowering stems.
