Description

  • Sword-like green leaves flushed with red
  • Architectural plant
  • Good evergreen structure for borders

Long olive-green leaves flushed red at the base create the ‘red heart’ of this attractive evergreen plant. With its palm-like shape, it makes a striking focal point in a border and can also be grown in a large container for several years. As it matures it will grow into a small tree, producing clusters of fragrant creamy white flowers in summer.

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered spot.

Water container-grown plants regularly.

In areas with cold winters (below -5°C/23°F), grow cordylines in containers and move them into a frost-free greenhouse over winter.

In spring, cut back any damaged leaves.
