Choose to grow in a sunny spot against a south-facing wall. Alternatively train the stems up obelisks or wig-wam structures in the centre of a flower bed or on the vegetable plot to add vertical interest.
Sow seeds in September or October and overwinter indoors as young plants in a cold frame or greenhouse. Plant up in spring. Alternatively sow indoors in January-March; one seed per one deep-module so the roots have space to develop before planting out in April-May.
