This striking, semi-cactus Dahlia Mercator is a 1st prize winner. Unwins flower buyer Nikki exhibited it at her village show and it came up trumps with the judges. The extra large blooms of cactus-type Dahlia Mercator get to 20cm (9in) in diameter and are a sophisticated vanilla colour with splashes of red on the petals. Ideal for flower beds schemes and allotment schemes.
For growers of all abilities, just plant them in a sunny position in any soil that is free-draining yet kept moist. Ideal for cottage garden borders and placing in allotments to bring in beneficial pollinators that will pollinate tomato flowers and strawberry flowers and much more.
Mercator grows up to 1m (39in) tall, lovely for wall side borders with dark brick where they rise and offset flowers in front beautifully.
