At Marshalls we love Dahlias as they are simple to grow and easy to maintain. Dahlia Purple Gem is hardy to UK weather and grows well in pots, containers or borders so there is plenty of choice. Dahlia Purple Gem is a beautiful, purple cactus-shaped dahlia that will provide your garden with eye flowers from mid-summer all the way through to autumn.

Purple Gem can be planted outside after the frost has been or if you wish to get a head start then you can start plant in pots or containers indoors.

When established the striking flower heads are unique in structure and will bring a new dimension to your garden by creating an explosive effect with spiky petals of the most incredible colour. Bring your garden further to life by mixing Dahlia Purple Gem with rich plum colours or near black colours to create an amazing contrast

Dahlias work very well as a cut flower and brought indoors. It is also deciduous, so it will shed its leaves annually, and are low maintenance with little effort being rewarded with lots and lots of flowers!

Plant Dahlia Purple Gem horizontally roughly around 12cm deep into the ground. It is important to allow enough room between each tuber to prevent overcrowding. Provide Purple Gem a high nitrogen liquid feed in its essential growth stage fora boost in growth, then switch to a feed high in potash once the fertilisation process has taken place.
