Stylish dragon plants bring form and colour to rooms with their eye-catching arching leaves attached to long slender trunks. The foliage of Dracaena ‘Yellow line’ is striped green and yellow and looks amazing against a white wall.

As well as being beautiful to look at, scientific research has suggested that dracaena can contribute to purifying the air too. This plant holds the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.

This evergreen thrives in rooms that have light shade, such as living rooms and hallways, or are brighter, although keep it away from direct sunlight.

Keep out of draughts and away from radiators. Make sure the temperature does not fall below 13C. Dracaena leaves are toxic to pets.

Keep compost moist from spring to autumn but don't allow Dracaena to sit in water. Reduce watering in winter. Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust, mist regularly to increase humidity and cut off any foliage that goes brown. Feed between spring and autumn and repot Dracaena if it gets too big.

Brown tips on leaves are usually caused by dry air, which can be improved by using a mister to increase humidity. Bleached patches on leaves can be caused by too much sun. Leaves can reach 60cm in length.
