Echinacea 'Artisan Soft Orange' looks spectacular in the summer border, producing deep orange daisy-like flowers with prominent brown cones, held on upright stems above a mound of green foliage. The warm orange colour softens as the flowers mature, creating a gorgeous multi-toned effect across the plant. The flowers attract butterflies and bees, and birds love the dried seedheads.

Echinaceas are ideal for prairie planting schemes, combining beautifully with ornamental grasses such as Calamagrostis.

Place in a sheltered spot and water regularly to keep the compost moist

Planting tips and hints:

Dig a hole approximately twice as deep and 3 times as wide as the plant’s rootball. If your soil is heavy mix in a soil improver before backfilling. Firm the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.

Plant in well-drained, humus-rich soil in full sun. Deadhead faded flowers to prolong the flowering period, but leave a few of the last flowers to provide seedheads for birds. Cut back dead flower stems to ground level in late autumn.
