Description
Dog’s tooth violet
With up to 7 flowers on each stem, the pale buttermilk coloured flowers of this hybrid erythronium bulb are tinged with green. These are pretty plants that associate well with other woodland bulbs. Erythroniums get their common name of Dog’s tooth violets from the curved shape of their tubers.
Plant erythronium bulbs in autumn. Plant 5-10cm/2-4in deep, into humus-rich soil in shade. Choose a sheltered site, out of strong winds. Don’t allow the tubers to dry out in storage.
After care
Snip off and tidy old foliage when it turns brown.
