Description

  • Beautiful textured leaves
  • Add texture and colour to your home
  • Suitable for indirect light

Bring the freshness of the natural world into the home with this beautiful trio of ferns displayed in three grey textured egg cups. Maidenhair, lady and brake ferns contribute beauty and movement to rooms and especially love humid bathrooms and kitchens. These plants are easy to grow and look great grouped together, or displayed separately.

(Maidenhair Fern – Adiantum ‘Fragrans’ [Adiantum raddianum ‘Fragrans’])

The pretty fan-shaped fronds cascading from black stalks make the maidenhair fern Adiantum ‘Fragrans’ a stunning addition to any room. New growth emerges in a soft pale green colour before becoming darker over time.

This lace-like fern, the botanical name for which refers to the way it repels water, looks delicate but is pretty tough. It’s easy to look after and grows slowly, reaching a height of between 30cm and 60cm (1ft to 2ft) when mature.

(Lady Fern – Athyrium filix-femina)

The arching filigree-like fronds of the lady fern Athyrium filix-femina bring a feminine touch to any room. This pretty British native’s fresh green filigree-like foliage is easy to look after and can reach 80cm (31 ins) in height when mature. Cut back fronds when they begin to look tatty and fresh ones will appear the following year.

(Brake Fern – Pteris cretica ‘Alba’)

The eye-catching brake fern Pteris cretica ‘Alba’ has unusual glossy green fronds with cream stripes. Its exotic-looking foliage grows in small clusters at the end of stems, a bit like a bird’s foot.

This fern can reach between 25 and 50cm (10 and 20ins) in height when mature. Cut back fronds when they begin to look tatty.

Aftercare advice

This trio of ferns love a humid atmosphere and indirect light or partial shade – keep away from direct sunshine and radiators. Avoid temperatures lower than 15C (60F). A kitchen or bathroom is ideal. Keep compost moist but never allow it to be waterlogged. Mist the fronds regularly. Feed with a houseplant fertiliser during the growing period.
