Geum ‘Lady Stratheden’ looks vibrant all through summer, with long slender stems bearing golden-yellow flowers above rosettes of green leaves. This reliable hardy perennial looks fantastic in a sunny border, adding an air of cottage garden charm.
Sow indoors
January-April: Sow on the surface of trays filled with moist seed compost and cover with a sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Keep in a propagator in a bright location at a temperature of 18-20°C (65-70°F) until germination (1-3 months). Keep compost damp but not wet. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into individual pots and grow on in cooler conditions.
Plant out
May-June: Once frosts are past, harden off and plant out into the permanent position 30cm (12in) apart.
