Sow indoors
February-April: Sow in individual containers filled with multi-purpose compost.
Sow outdoors
March-June: Sow thinly 0.6cm (1⁄4in) deep in well-prepared soil in partial shade. Thin to 30cm (12in) apart.
Tips
Water well during dry periods and keep weeds at bay. Pick regularly to encourage fresh new leaves. Deadhead to stop the plant flowering, as leaves will become tougher after flowering. Plants will self-seed prolifically if allowed to flower, and can become invasive.
