- Leaves excellent for Thai cookery
- Fragrant flowers and tangy fruit
- Attractive conservatory tree
Grown mainly for its leaves, used extensively in east Asian cookery, enjoy not only taste sensations with your own home-grown Kaffir lime trees but a beautiful evergreen tree that looks fantastic in a number of situations including your sunny patio, a greenhouse setting or your conservatory. If you choose to grow Kaffir lime trees outdoors be prepared to cover with a double layer of horticultural fleece when frost is predicted.
Limes are harvestable as well as leaves. What they lack in smoothness and finesse the knobbly fruits have a spicy rind that makes a great flavour addition to gin cocktails or the topping of Key lime cheesecakes.
If grown outdoors we recommend you position your tree in a sunny, sheltered site where your tree will enjoy ideal conditions. In pots add a special Citrus compost which has the perfect balance of nutrients citrus trees need to develop well and thrive. Use the Citrus feed to boost the flowers. The flowers appear through the year for a year-long well-scented and attractive display.
