For old time glamour that’s bang on trend it’s hard to beat a Kentia palm with its green arching leaves that give it a real presence in the home. Evoke the roaring twenties with this elegant plant from the South Pacific, which thrives in lower levels of light.
Keep in a room that's bright or in partial shade, including humid bathrooms and kitchens. Make sure the temperature does not drop below 10C. Keep out of draughts and away from radiators.
Ensure the compost stays moist but don't allow Kentia to sit in water. Mist regularly, especially if the atmosphere is dry. Feed with a weak fertiliser solution between spring and autumn if needed. Shake leaves to remove dust and mist throughout the year. Cut off any leaves that go brown.
Brown tips on leaves are usually caused by dry air. Use a mister to increase humidity. Yellowing leaves may be a sign of underwatering. Be alert for scale insects, which can be wiped off with a damp cloth.
You will also receive an easy to use 30ml houseplant droplet feeder specially formulated to keep them happy and healthy looking for much longer. Simply snap off the tip and stick it into your plant pot to feed your plant for up to one month.
