Description

Lettuce ‘Glassica’ is a very reliable Iceberg variety that grows well in a range of conditions and soil types, producing a high yield. It has good tolerance to tipburn (browning leaf tips, usually caused by calcium deficiency).
Sow indoors
January-April: Sow seeds thinly 1cm (1⁄2in) deep in clean trays or modules of firm pre-watered compost. Place in warmth 10-15°C (50-60°F) and keep moist.
Sow outdoors
March-August: Sow seeds thinly 1cm (1⁄2in) deep directly in harvest location. Keep soil moist at all times. Thin to 25cm (10in) apart.
Plant out
April-June: Plant out into the required harvest position 25cm (10in) apart with 30cm (12in) between each row when plants have 3-4 true leaves.
Tips
Keep well watered. Use thinnings as baby leaf. Small sowings made every 3 weeks will ensure a continuous supply.
Please note - These seeds should ideally be sown this season. All our packets have ‘Sow by Date’ guidance on them, this is the date the seeds should be sown in order to achieve the highest rate of germination. You will still see the same high-quality plants if sowing in seasons after the ‘Sow by Date’ but may see a reduction in germination rate
