Magnolia stellata 'Royal Star' looks sensational in spring, with its bare branches smothered in large starry white flowers with a delicate fragrance. Leaves appear as the flowers start to fade. This elegant deciduous tree is compact and slow-growing, perfect for small gardens.

Plant in a sheltered sunny spot, avoiding frost pockets and east-facing locations (bright sunlight can damage frosted buds in spring). Magnolias prefer a moist, well drained acid or neutral soil with plenty of organic matter added.
