Description
- Rare two-tone pea variety
- Edible tendrils and pods
- Easy to harvest
Attractive and rare mangetout pea variety with green-red blush pods, easy to harvest on account of few leaves and lots of pods. This snap pea variety has delightful edible tendrils and pods perfect. Vitamin-rich and high in fibre, with the robust plants reaching an average 180cm (6ft) in height.
This variety has a rare pink blush on the shell of every pod with bright green peas within. A ‘hyper-tendril’ variety, Spring Blush produces more tendrils than leaves. Not only are the tendrils edible and fresh, more tendrils means the pea pods are easier to harvest, as they are not hidden by lots of leaves.
Grow in an allotment or in troughs by a sunny wall and treat to a high potash liquid fertiliser when the plants start to flower. This will encourage your plants into more flowering and fruiting. Also, Spring Blush creates its own reservoir of available nitrogen in the soil – perfect for upping nitrogen levels for planting brassicas into next year.
We recommend you grow on trellises or within a home-made crib of supports and string. The plants will provide an excellent natural windbreak for nearby tender crops.
