With masses of exotic orchid shaped spotted flowers which resemble our favourite dessert dish this is a real sweet treat for any gardener where the flowers and leaves are both edible. Leaves can be substituted for lettuce but use flowers sparingly as they can be a little bitter tasting to some.
Forming a mounded bush for growing in full sun or part shade, perfect for borders or containers where they will flower til the first frosts.
These flowers are delivered to you as large-size plug plants around 8cm (3in) from root to tip. These are perfect to put straight into the garden from April onwards, weather permitting, or grow on indoors in 6cm pots.
Plugs come in a FREE micro-propagator, which gives the plugs a good growing environment before you’re ready to plant into the soil.
On a pleasant and dry spring or summer day plant out into soil and water well. As the plants start to flower add a high potassium fertiliser to give your flowers a real boost.
If there are dangers of late frosts in spring protect your plugs with horticultural fleece.
