Description

  • Big impact on late summer colour and form
  • Provides winter food for birds
  • Compact habit that’s great in borders in full sun or dappled shade, or pots
  • Good for mixing with flowering perennials

For late summer colour and form, Miscanthus ‘Red Cloud’ is a great choice.

‘Red Cloud’ grows to about a metre (39 ins) in height and width has a compact habit and, as its name suggests, is adorned with profusions of red flowers with a silvery tint in August and September. It mixes well with late-flowering perennials, such as rudbeckia, in sunny borders or partial shade, and will also grow well in pots. Great for wild gardens and prairie planting schemes. Miscanthus can be left in place for winter interest, with its seedheads looking great in the frost and providing food for birds. Cut its foliage back to the soil in late winter as new leaves emerge.

Produces feathery flower spikes and arching green foliage in late summer. Mix with other perennials in a sunny border or grow in pots.

The seedheads of miscanthus are fantastic for winter interest and provide food for birds.

Will grow in most soils.

How you will receive your plants:

Selected by our team of experts and sent from our nursery, this will be supplied in a 9cm pot (measured by the diameter of the pot). With a well strong root system in place, you can plant out in the garden straight away and leave them to establish, or you can grow them in larger pots as they are still young, before planting out to create a stunning garden display.

Can’t plant straight away?

If you aren't able to plant out straight away, then ensure they stay moist. You can place pots on a saucer or tray of shallow water so they are able to stay hydrated. Aim to have them planted within 3 days.
