Bee balms look fantastic in the centre of flower beds with their fountain-like flowers. Reaching 60cm (24in) the flowering stems add height to your borders giving them that extra impact. With other tall summer-flowering purple and pink flowers and shrubs including roses you can create a summer garden that becomes rich in visual impact and fantastic fragrance.
Attracting beneficial pollinators like bees and hoverflies you bring your outdoor space to life with this lovely variety, Monarda Knight Purple.
We suggest you plant three young plants to a container with a 12in (30cm) diameter for creating maximum colour and impact in the heart of your flowerbeds. Plant up several pots of three plants for a sight to behold. Pots dotted around the patio will really impress guests – and for such little effort.
Grow in pots with compost suitable for perennial flowers to ensure the plants have the best soil to grow and thrive in. If you grow Monarda Knight Purple in flower beds mix some compost in with the existing soil to give your flowers the best soil to grow in. If you grow in flowerbeds space plants around 8in (20cm) apart. An area of a yard by a foot (1m by 30cm) will take around five plants.
Get some sharp secateurs and cut some of the flowers for vases or bouquets bringing a bit of colour to the home.
