Description

With its distinctive pale lime-green petals tinged with maroon-pink, this fragrant Nicotiana looks superb in pots and borders. The flowers keep coming for months through summer, and the scent is most noticeable in the evening, so plant near a seating area so that it can be appreciated.
Sow indoors
February-May: Sow on the surface of trays filled with moist, free-draining seed compost. Gently firm down but do not cover the seed. Keep in a propagator in a bright location at a temperature of 20-25°C (68-75°F) until germination (14-21 days). Keep compost damp but not wet. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into individual pots and grow on in cooler conditions.
Plant out
May-June: Once frosts are past, harden off and plant out into the permanent position, 30cm (12in) apart.
Tips
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season.
NB:
All parts of nicotiana are harmful if eaten, and contact with the foliage may cause skin and eye irritation.
