Description

Onion 'Globo' is a very large variety, producing onions that can weigh up to 1kg each! The golden-skinned bulbs are ideal for the show bench, and with their delicious mild flavour, they’re suitable for cooking or for eating raw in salads. The bulbs store well into winter.
Sow indoors
December-January: Sow thinly in clean trays or modules of firm pre-watered compost and cover with a thin layer of compost. Place in warmth 50-60°F (10-15°C) and keep moist at all times.
Sow outdoors
March-April: Sow thinly into pre-watered soil 1cm (1⁄2in) deep, in short rows 20cm (8in) apart, directly into harvest position. Keep soil moist at all times until seedlings are established.
Plant out
April-May: Harden off before planting out into the required harvest position 15cm (6in) apart in rows 30cm (12in) apart.
Tips
Lift onions and spread out to dry on a clean surface in a well ventilated garage or shed before storing for winter use
Please note - These seeds should ideally be sown this season. All our packets have ‘Sow by Date’ guidance on them, this is the date the seeds should be sown in order to achieve the highest rate of germination. You will still see the same high-quality plants if sowing in seasons after the ‘Sow by Date’ but may see a reduction in germination rate
