Description
High-yielding and reliable variety giving large fruits with attractive red stripes, and a crisp honey-like taste. Delicious sun-ripened on the tree. Plant near your vegetable plot to encourage pollinating insects to the area.
Grown on roots to restrict their height to 4ft when fully grown, they produce lots of fruit at a height for easy-picking.
Rootstock: M9
Pollination advice - Jonagold is not self fertile and will need one more pollinator tree close by to pollinate the flowers. Close by is around 100 - 150m but can be further, it will all depend on how far the bees will travel from flower to flower. Jonagold is in Pollinator group 4 and will need a variety in this group. It is a triploid variety, which means is has 3 sets of chromosones rather than the usual 2, and is classed as a self-fish variety as it won't pollinate other apple varieties. These trees are 2 years old.
Can’t plant straight away
If you can't plant up your fruit tree straight away that's fine so long as keep the roots covered in soil. You can even lay the tree horizontally on the soil so long as the roots are covered in moist soil.
Look to planting your fruit tree in its permanent position within 5-7 days. Potted fruit trees: If you can't plant up your fruit tree straight away keep your potted plant in a sunny position and keep the soil moist by watering each day. Look to planting into its permanent position within 5-7 days.

How your plants arrive
You receive our apple trees as young specimens at around 28in tall, growing strongly and sturdily and primed to produce lots of apples for you.
They arrive as a main stem studded with buds with lots of growing potential in spring.
The roots are covered in a pot in a polythene bag to keep the roots perfectly humid while transported from our nursery to your home.
When they first go in the ground, it’s their roots that really get growing; you won’t see this as it’s all happening underground. Once spring turns into summer those roots will promote lots of green growth above the soil.
