Graceful and ephemeral, the peace lily is a houseplant with a unique aura.

Its lush glossy leaves and spiky flowers surrounded by white hood-like spathes give it an other-worldly feel, and it’s become increasingly popular following the publication of research that points to its air purifying qualities.

Peace lilies are easy to grow and do well in semi shade over the summer months and bright light during the winter, in rooms in which the temperature falls no lower than 13C. Avoid direct sunlight as this can cause damage to leaves.

Keep compost moist in summer and water less in winter. Mist regularly to maintain humidity and feed every couple of weeks with a weak fertiliser solution from March to September. Cut off any leaves and spent spathes when they turn brown. Occasionally wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust. Repot in spring. Peace lilies can grow to around a metre in height. They are toxic to animals.

Peace lilies originate from tropical rainforests. A great way to maintain humidity is to grow them in a pot or on a tray in which pebbles and a small amount of water have been placed.

You will also receive an easy to use 30ml houseplant droplet feeder specially formulated to keep them happy and healthy looking for much longer. Simply snap off the tip and stick it into your plant pot to feed your plant for up to one month.
