Feel the love by growing the heart-leaf philodendron, also known as the sweetheart plant.
This fabulous climber festoons surfaces with lush glossy foliage, bringing a distinctly jungle-like feel to a room.
Its vine-like stems can grow to extraordinary lengths and look great trailing from hanging baskets or shelves. Grow a single plant or bring together several pots for a fantastic curtain of green hearts.
Philodendron is a tropical forest plant that’s easy to care for and thrives in warm and moist conditions with no direct sunlight.
Grow Philodendron in a light or partially shady room and keep it out of draughts and away from radiators. Keep its compost moist over the summer and just moist the rest of the year and don’t allow it to sit in water. Feed once a month in spring and summer. Mist its leaves over the summer, and during the winter months if it’s kept in a heated room, and make sure the temperature does not fall below 13C.
Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust. Philodendron is toxic to pets. Repot every two to three years.
The natural home of philodendron is the tropical forests of Central America and the Caribbean, where it can measure six metres. In homes it’s commonly trained on moss poles, which provide support and moisture.
You will also receive an easy to use 30ml houseplant droplet feeder specially formulated to keep them happy and healthy looking for much longer. Simply snap off the tip and stick it into your plant pot to feed your plant for up to one month.
