Sow indoors

February-April: Sow on the surface of trays filled with moist, free-draining seed compost. Gently firm down but do not cover the seed. Keep in a propagator in a bright location at a temperature of 18-20°C (64-68°F) until germination (10-21 days). Keep compost damp but not wet. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into individual pots and grow on in cooler conditions.

Plant out

May-June: Once frosts are past, harden off and plant out into the permanent position, 30cm (12in) apart.

Tips

Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Deadhead faded flowers to promote further flowering.
