Description

Salvia ‘Vista Purple’ puts on a vibrant display in summer with dense spikes of rich magenta-purple flowers on compact plants. Flowering over a long period, this colourful salvia is perfect for pots or the front of a sunny border, attracting butterflies and bees.
Sow indoors
January-April: Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in the warmth 15-20°C (60-75°F), and keep moist. After germination, keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm (2in) apart into trays of potting compost.
Plant out
May: Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out when danger of frost has passed. Allow 20cm (8in) between plants.
Tips
Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage more blooms.
