- Versatile crop
- A brilliant chipper
- Disease resistant
‘Markies’ is a recently introduced maincrop variety, that is high-yielding and has an excellent resistance to common diseases that are known to blight potato crops. Rest assured, there will be few to no losses with this variety. It produces a yellow skin with a light yellow flesh, and is suitable for baking, boiling and roasting in the kitchen. This reliable maincrop will provide warming potatoes just as the weather starts to get cold in autumn.
The strengths of ‘Markies’ though lies in its chipping. So much so that it is considered by some ‘chippies’ to be even better than ‘Maris Piper’, which is quite the recommendation. Plant outdoors from March to find out for yourself.
