A choice selection of compact evergreen shrubs that will thrive in shady spots, with decorative bark, colourful foliage and attractive flowers.
The collection contains:
Arbutus unedo ‘Compacta’: decorative bark, coupled with dark green serrated foliage tinged red in winter. Small, fragrant, pink bell-shaped flowers appear in autumn alongside ripening strawberry-shaped fruit from the previous year’s flowers. (The fruit is edible but not particularly pleasant). HxS: 2.5m x 2.5m (8ft x 8ft)
Aucuba ‘Golden Girl’: Gold and green-marbled leaves, plus red berries if planted near a male variety. HxS: 1m x 1m (3.5ft x 3.5ft)
Azalea ‘Hotshot Variegata’: rich red flowers held above variegated green and white foliage in April and May - perfect for patio containers or the front of a border. HxS: 60cm x 60cm (2ft x 2ft)
