An improved red shallot from traditional varieties, Red Gourmet is much earlier to manure, ready as early as July.
This is a very aromatic shallot with a lovely sweet taste. Superb for cooking where it adds great flavour to many dishes. It has attractive coppery-brown skin and sweet pink flesh.
Every bulbs stores well too so you can enjoy an on-going supply through the summer and into autumn. We recommend that you grow shallot Red Gourmet if you have heavy soils. Because you are planting them in spring the soil will soon warm up which is perfect for root development and superior shallots.
