Description
- Shows impressive mildew tolerance
- F1 generation vigour
- Summer and autumn-long leaves
Grow this new and exciting variety of spinach; Cymbal has been specially bred for the home-grower to withstand mildew, a common disease in summer so you get guaranteed harvests of spinach leaves from May right through to October. Ready to pick leaves from sowing after three weeks this is one of the best quick turn-around crops.
Sow little and often for an on-going supply and to avoid a glut right at the beginning of the season. We recommend you sow a new row every fortnight for continual summer harvests.
How to sow:
Sow indoors or outdoors to suit your space and whether you have a greenhouse to grow seedlings on.
If you have a greenhouse sow seeds indoors from March and into April thinly 1cm (1/2in) in clean trays filled with moist compost specially formulated to grow on seedlings. Put your tray of seeds somewhere with an ambient temperature of 10°C (50°F) until transplanting. Plant out May.
Sow outdoors from March to August 1cm (1/2in) deep on a moist seed bed or in a raised planter. Thin out to 10cm (4in) apart when the seedlings have four or five leaves.
