Get earlier and larger onions with Onion Sturon which has fast become a favourite with home-growers around the country. The Royal Horticultural Society praises it too, giving it an Award of Garden Merit.
An excellent, maincrop variety where the onions are ready for harvest as early as August when you grow on the young plants in spring.
This is the perfect spring-growing onion for those that savour the great flavour of home-grown onions but live in cold or exposed parts of the country and can’t grow autumn-planting onions so well.
Producing high quality, juicy-fleshed bulbs Onion Sturon is slow to bolt (highly suited for the variable weather of the UK climate) and keeps extremely well in storage so you have supplies going into autumn and winter.
Your plants arrive to you in multi-sown module trays. With 50 modules that’s at least 100 plants to give you ample supplies over autumn and winter. You need never buy another onion from the shops again.
As we raise these young plants early and under carefully-controlled conditions they really speed ahead in their growth when you plant them on. We deliver them to you in April for you to pot up into 9cm (3 ½ in) pots and then plant out as the weather warms in April or May, depending on how spring fares.
