Enjoy trying sweetcorn Alliance on your own plot; every cob on each plant is packed full of juicy kernels from the base to the tip and your plants are particularly robust, able to withstand the varying weathers typical of the UK.
The cobs develop to be full-sized and practically bursting with sweetcorn kernels, fully developed from base to tip. Eat cobs straight from the plant for a refreshing treat, steam or roast on the barbecue as a satisfying hors d’oeuvre for eating al fresco.
We recommend that you find a space to form a grid of sweetcorn. This means the female flowers are more likely to catch the pollen off the male flowers at the top of the plants and give you cobs quicker.
When your plant start to flower at the top of the stem (they look like a fountain of seeds) tap the stems to encourage the pollen to fall and fertilise the female flowers below which form the edible cobs.
