This attractive conifer has eye-catching golden-green foliage that turns more golden in winter, and new spring foliage is brightly tinged with yellow. 'Golden Smaragd’ will eventually grow into a large, conical tree, and makes a good specimen plant in a large garden. It can also be grown as a hedging plant.

When growing Thuja occidentalis 'Golden Smaragd’ as a hedge, trim twice a year in spring and late summer, taking care not to cut back into old wood.
