- Three full months of summer flowers every year
- With rare variegated leaves
- A magnet for pollinating bees and butterflies
Speedwell Veronica Charlotte is a tall and proud fast-growing perennial that starts in spring with white-edged leaves followed by beautiful spires of white flowers 90cm (3ft) high.
The white flowers last all summer and create an impressive display when planted near foxgloves and other tall flowers like perennial salvias. When grown in pots Veronica Charlotte makes a great centrepiece in containers too, edged with trailing bedding like trailing petunias or busy Lizzies.
Attracting bees and other pollinating insects, this variety is useful to have nearby flowering crops like strawberries, peas and beans for more home-grown fruit and vegetable harvests.
Cut the stems to the ground after your Veronica Charlotte has flowered. Add a mulch of well-rotted compost around your plants each spring; this keeps the moisture in the soil so the roots don’t dry out and you get better-performing flowers.
