Grow potato of your own with Estima; a variety famed on its suitability as a baked jacket. They are also perfectly suited to making a delicious dauphinoise dish.
With a dry content matter (jargon-speak for ‘firm and hard’) they keep their shape on cooking and frying, so they don’t disintegrate. On the allotment they perform fantastically; naturally able to withstand scab for clean and blemish-free.
How to plant:
Get the soil ready by raking the area after sprinkling some pre-planting Potato Feed over the area a month or so before you plant for seed potatoes in March. Keep your seed potatoes somewhere dry, cool and light over February (like an unheated greenhouse) so they create little stumpy stems (the process known as chitting) which will grow better at planting time than seed potatoes left in a warm, dark place.
Try Estima in Gro-Sacks. Plant one to five seed potatoes to every Gro-Sack in spring in multi-purpose compost for the perfect soil texture for developing potatoes and feed your plants with some Growmore for a nutrient boost as the green stems start to grow. Earth up soil to half the height of your stems as your plants grow to keep the tubers permanently well-covered.
