When to plant Marrow Seeds

Marrow seeds should be sown indoors from April to May for an early start or directly outdoors from late May to June once the risk of frost has passed. Marrows need warm soil (at least 15°C) to germinate successfully.

How to Plant Marrow Seeds

For indoor sowing, plant seeds 2 cm deep in small pots filled with compost and keep them at a temperature of 18-21°C. Once seedlings have grown strong, harden them off before transplanting outdoors. If sowing directly, place seeds in mounds of well-prepared soil, spacing them 60-90 cm apart. Water well after planting and continue to water regularly throughout the growing season.

How long do Marrow Seeds take to grow?

Marrow seeds typically germinate within 7-14 days. The plants grow quickly, with the first marrows ready to harvest in about 12-14 weeks. Regular harvesting encourages continued fruit production.
