What's the difference between a garden fork and a spade?

Whereas a spade has one flat surface for picking up and transferring dirt and a bladed end that can cut into soil and turf. What is a good technique for using a gardening fork?

Achieve great results and avoid injury by following these tips:
1. Insert the fork vertically down into the soil – stand with feet shoulder-width apart and use bodyweight to push the fork down.

2. Use the garden fork handle to lift soil – gently pull the handle backwards to bring up the soil.

3. Bend your knees and keep your back straight when lifting – soil, especially if it's compacted, can be heavy, and roots offer resistance. Both can cause injury if your body isn't in the right position when lifting.
