When to sow Poppy Seeds 

Poppy seeds are best sown directly outdoors where they are to flower, as they dislike root disturbance. Most annual poppies can be sown in spring from March to May, while some varieties can also be sown in autumn for earlier blooms the following year. 

How to grow Poppies from seed 

Sow poppy seeds thinly onto finely prepared soil and lightly rake them in, avoiding deep burial. Choose a sunny position with well-drained soil and keep the area lightly moist while seedlings establish. Thin young plants if necessary to give them enough space to grow.
