Rudbeckias are fabulous plants that give a long season of colour, often flowering well into autumn. Tall varieties make excellent border fillers and the shorter Rudbeckias make showy container plants.
With their large seeds that are easy to handle Rudbeckias are easy to grow from seed. Sow them in spring in warmth, around 20C/68F and once germinated grow them on in cooler conditions.
Rudbeckias are half-hardy but they'll cope with cooler temperatures as they are hardened off, only plant outside once all risk of frost has passed.
