What's the difference between Anvil and Bypass Garden Shears?  

The difference between these shears is all in the blade…  

Anvil shears: With just one blade that clamps down onto a flat surface, these are your heavy-duty heroes. They're perfect for tackling thicker branches and woody pruning – with the flat surface absorbing the pressure of the blade so you can generate extra force for tougher jobs.    

Bypass garden shears: These shears have two sharp blades that pass over each other in a scissor action to make a clean, precise and, above all, healthy cut. The smooth, clean cuts prevent bruising on delicate flower stems.  

What features should I look for when shopping for Garden Shears?  

1. Blade material: The priority for hedge shear blades is strength and durability, in which case, carbon steel and stainless steel are the best options. Stainless steel is excellent at resisting corrosion, whereas carbon steel is generally tougher. To avoid rusting on either material, remember to wipe down your blades after each use.
