Harvest
Grow this black cherry variety with a sweet-tart flavour. Fruits are a deep glossy red when ripe and as they ripen, the sweeter they become. The Regina cherries often score high in taste tests compared to other similar varieties.
Our trees grow perfectly in pots on sunny patios reaching a manageable 1.2m (4ft). Suited to the northern climate and first found in Germany at the turn of this century, particularly resistant to fruit-craking, which can be caused too much moisture intake at time of ripening, ie in wet Summers. A very good alternative to Cherry 'Van'. This is not self-fertile and will need another cherry variety in close proximity.
Fruit is preceded by a wealth of flowers, bringing in important pollinating insects early in the year which stick around to pollinate pea, beans and other fruiting vegetables.
These trees have been grown and pruned to keep a compact shape, suitable for small spaces or grown in containers. Each winter, when the plant is dormant prune out any dead, diseased or damaged branches to a healthy bud. Cut back this seasons growth by 1/4 to an outward facing healthy bud. You can remove the tallest central branch, 'The Leader' to encourage side shoots and keep the height of the tree short
We recommend you prune lightly in August to create a good canopy shape. Remove any wayward branches fully that spoil the overall shape of the tree. Prune around a quarter of the fruit stems to a leafy-shoot further down the stem.

Guide To Plant Sizes
7cm-10L Potted Shrubs
Tree, shrubs, perennials and climbers come in a range of pot sizes. Available through the year, they will be sent to you well packed for plant protection during transit. The appearance of your plant will vary depending on the season in which they are purchased. As a rule of thumb, the larger the pot, the larger the plant growth. Each increase in pot size means roughly another year’s growth for better instant impact.
Bare Root
Several of our plants come supplied as bare roots. Despite appearances, they are alive and well. They have been previously grown in the ground and lifted when dormant throughout the winter months, so that when you receive them they are strong, full of energy and ready to be planted out. This is our most economical way to buy many plant varieties including roses, strawberries, Tree and bushes. Soak well prior to planting in their final position.
