Agapanthus 'Blue Storm' is more compact than most agapanthus, with evergreen foliage and abundant violet-blue flower heads on strong stems. This hardy perennial adds both colour and texture to a sunny summer border and also makes a spectacular container plant.

Plant agapanthus in well-drained soil in full sun, or in pots filled with good multipurpose compost. Deadhead the faded flowers, cutting the stems back to the base.

Feed border plants in spring with a balanced fertiliser such as Growmore. Feed container-grown plants fortnightly from April until the flowers appear using a liquid fertiliser such as Marshalls Liquid Seaweed Feed.

Mulch well in autumn to protect the plant over winter. In very cold weather, cover the plant with horticultural fleece to protect the leaves, or move container-grown plants into a frost-free environment.
