Harvest
New and exclusive to us, home-grown fans and foodies alike will lap up this exciting variety of tasty fruit. Melon Mangomel is a type of juicy lemon that carries a strong hint of mango too to create a vibrant fruit that can be enjoyed as a super healthy snack, at breakfast or as a thirst quencher in warm weather.
Try this fun new variety alongside your traditional fruit plants and crops in your garden or allotment and you won’t be disappointed. Melon Mangomel arrives at you as 3 grafted plants of great quality, which are easy to plant and care for. Fully grown they can reach around 20inches (50cm) in height and spread out to a width of nearly 6.5ft (2m) for an impressive yield.
Melon Mangomel has distinct melon and mango flavours inside the bright yellow skin. Experts describe the taste as sweet, fragrant and with a tropical twist. It can also be grown in containers and small gardens with restricted space. Melon Mangomel plants can survive colder weather and your triple pack of 3inch (7cm) grafted plants with the reward you with a juicy harvest from July to September.
How to grow
Upon receiving your Grafted Melon Plants, these should be treated like any other melon. They may still have their plastic grafted pegs on, these can be carefully removed before potting.
Remove the pots immediately upon receipt and give them a good water. If particularly dry, plunge them into a bucket of water until no air bubbles are seen from the compost. Keep them in a warm place and keep well-watered until ready to plant.
These plants are larger and more mature than plugs and are ready to be planted straight away but will still benefit from hardening off before their final planting.
Guide To Plant Sizes
Grafted Plants
Grafted plants are created by joining together two different plant varieties, typically by attaching the stem of one onto the root system of another. This process allows for desirable traits, such as disease resistance or better fruit production, to be combined into a single plant.
Why Marshalls Garden
Soil Type
Melon plants require well-draining, nutrient-rich soil to thrive. They grow best in warm conditions with soil that provides good support for their sprawling vines and large fruit.
